You say tomato, I say iPadio
Filed Under Social Media, Twitter | Comments
Hey all, I was going through the section of my Seesmic dashboard I’ve entitled
“Thought Leaders” when I saw a tweet from @AaronStrout . I followed a link to his blog site where I browsed a couple of posts. One of these posts mentioned a site called iPadio which allows it’s users to podcast via phone to create what iPadio has coined a “phlog.” There are a host of other things that can be done with iPadio but I haven’t peeled any layers of the onion back . . . yet.
Click on the link below to take a listen of what will be the first of many phlogs from me and the rest of the Mobo Media team.
*Update, I went back and embedded the iPadio file directly into the post. Check it out!

Just a quick note here to showcase one of our newest Twitter Backgrounds to be designed. Kim Masoner (@beachcleanup), of Saveourbeach.org, needed a background to spruce up her plain ol’ Twitter BG, and to help put out her information in a more stylish way. She wanted to incorporate an image similar to that of her avatar (sandy beach, footprints, waves) and also wanted to layout her contact info and bio in a much more stylish way. After a few revisions, some tweaks, and a couple of discussions, we were able to get Kim a background that we are proud of, and she is thrilled with!
I did try to change my bg and paid a small amt, but was never able to upload it….so I’m tickled pink with my new bg. – Kim Masoner, Founder of Saveourbeach.org
We’re happy too Kim and we look forward to seeing you at a future beach cleanup!

Well we finally got around to it and got ourselves a custom Twitter background. We are finally in the same league as such rockstars as Chris Brogan, Calvin Lee, Mari Smith, Chris Pirillo and more
It’s orange, simple, and clean. It also allows for more information to be put about ourselves other than the limited # of characters that Twitter gives you. It’s currently launched on my Twitter profile only so feel free to stop by, check it out and let me know what you think!
You can also learn how I created this (simple but the dimensions are tricky) over here.

3 Shot Burst #1: Top Reasons to Use Viddler
Filed Under Interviews, Social Media, Twitter | Comments

Hey folks, I’d like to introduce the first segment in a series that I’m calling “3 Shot Bursts.” The name pays homage to my time in the Army and comes from a setting on the M4 and M16 rifles that only allows the weapon to fire three rounds at a time once the trigger is “depressed” (the lay person would say “pulled”). Technically the name of the series should be “3 Round Burst” but that would just get confusing if you didn’t know what the name alluded too . . . and now I’m off topic. Okay, so anyway (ehem!) I’m a list guy and like to ask people their “Top 3’s” for food, movies, bands, you name it so the named seemd apropos.

Okay folks, here’s a pretty funny convo I wanted to share. Hopefully you get a chuckle out of it. Quick back story: my buddy Journey and I were planning on meeting a college buddy for dinner tonight but he bailed. Journey and I are amending plans now that our buddy isn’t part of the equation. We both like good food but are on budgets like most Americans.
Jason: Dude, let’s go somewhere for Restaurant Week! I went to the Jazz Kitchen last night and had a good time. Can we meet in Santa Ana or north Costa Mesa? I’m coming from Whittier and not Orange so it’s a hike . . . If you’ve got your heart set on Memphis can we meet at the one in Santa Ana?
Journey: Of course, Santa Ana is fine, although I don’t know if Memphis has any specials.
Jason: No, Memphis isn’t participating. I sent you a list of those restaurants in SA that were. You pick. I’m up for anything except Royal Khyber because I think I’m going there tomorrow night.
Journey: For these prices you can do the same thing at Memphis….but I am looking.
Journey: What if I buy you a drink at Memphis in Santa Ana? Then we can pretend it is Restaurant week. Out of this list I guess McCormick And Schmicks….but for $30 plus a free drink at Memphis, you can do all courses.
Jason: Ok, Memphis it is.
Journey: Please choose from the following drink list for your free beverage:
Water
Tea (hot or cold)
Soda (no refills unless noted as free)
Coffee (no espresso, latte, or cappuccino)
Ice (give it time; it is a two stage beverage)
Jason: We will title tonight’s festivities “Recession Friendly Restaurant Week.”
Journey: Or “Since I am here, are you hiring?”
Alright folks. The recession is in all facets of our lives: budgets, jobs, stress, etc. Take it seriously but don’t take yourself too seriously. Have fun, enjoy good company especially whilst eating good food.
If you’re at Memphis in Santa Ana tonight around 7:30 PM, stop by and say “hi.” Be sure to check out OrangeCountyRestaurantWeek.com for great deals on awesome food at some of Orange County’s best eateries.

More Twestival LA Coverage!
Filed Under Business, Social Media, Twitter | Comments
For those of you looking for some photos of the brothers Mobo Media or photos of other famous people (ehem!), check out the latest post. BB photos from Twitpic so bear with us. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on the Twestival LA event: not fun, random crowd, awesome. It may have been a bit random but I know Justin (@bigheadasian) and I (Jason aka @mobomedia) had a great time. Besides, charitywater.org raised almost $12,000 which is nothing to sneeze at.

Twestival LA 2009 Highlights
Filed Under Social Media, Twitter | Comments
For those of you who didn’t have a chance to go to the Twestival LA on Thursday @ club 740 you definetly missed out on a good time!
Benefitting Charity:Water with 100% of the proceeds from ticket and shirt sales going to the charity this was a great event.
Hundreds of “Tweeps” (twitter + peeps) showed up to attend the event headlined by both web and tv celebs (Joe Rogan, iJustin, Tay Zonday, David H. Lawrence XVII, Nick Thune, & more) to support this cause.
The night was filled with some great music spun by 4 DJ’s and the house band Me & Heath (check ‘em out) & a great feeling of goodwill. Plus it was nice to put a face to some of the “@” names on Twitter!
With an estimated 400+ people in attendance and almost 12K raised this was a definite success for an event put together in 2 weeks! Check out the highlight reel to see a little of what you missed. Here’s lookin’ to Twestival 2010!
