I had the opportunity to visit the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana a few days ago with my brother for the Chapman University Alumni mixer held at Memphis restaurant (which is deliciousness btw!). Held in the Artist District, this little gem of a place is a great little haven of art places, live music, the Art center of course, and my favorite of all which was the lithography studio. I took printmaking in college and really love the process of making a plate, inking, and printing your own editions.

Anywho, the GCAC is a fantastic gallery displaying both professional and student work, both of which are of extremely high quality, making it hard for me to pass on purchasing a few pieces for my collection. Some great mixed media work, an interesting installation comprised of a room covered in artificial turf with a reflective plexiglass form in the center of the room, and some oil paintings so life like, that I actually thought that it was a photo or 3-D.

Helpful staff, great art, a bunch of freebies, and most importantly, supporting student work. What more can you ask for?

Hop on over to my other blog to see some posters that i picked up from the gallery for FREE.99!
